Weekend Workshop on
Introduction to Digital Photography

If you have bought a digital
camera, and you are confused about the world of digital photography, this
two day course
is for you. Come to our two day workshop and let us
help you make the most of your images.
The timeline for this course will be as follows:
Saturday
9:00-
Meet at the school and begin with instruction on how to use your camera in
manual mode. You will learn about your cameras manual functions, such as
ISO, F-stops, and shutter speeds and how to
change them in manual mode. You will also learn about the different shooting
modes on your camera. You will learn the difference of Normal Exposure vs.
Correct Exposure and how your camera views everything as an 18% gray tone.
We will also discuss white balance on your camera and how to change it. We
will discuss photographing outdoor subjects and outdoor portrait lighting techniques using reflectors
and diffusers. This will also cover how to compose your subjects, what backgrounds to
avoid, and how to select the best light for your subject. You will also learn how to
use the gray card or incident light meters for perfectly exposed digital images.
We will also discuss using high and low depth of field in your images and
how to freeze action.
12:00-1:00 Lunch break
2:00-5:00 We
will then come back to the school and
upload your images from your digital camera that you did in the morning
discussion and begin to discuss them. We
will use your
images to learn about basic photo editing, resizing, and enhancement techniques using
Photoshop. Also learn about how to set the correct image resolution for different
degrees of enlargement for your image.
Sunday
12:00-5:00 We will
begin the day with a general review of Saturday. We will also discuss any
general questions you may have about your camera that were not covered on
Saturday. We will then go out on loction and work with the different techniques for photographing
you learned on Saturday. There will be a continuation of Photoshop 7.0 and how
and where you can have your images printed.
Supplies Needed:
1) Digital Cameras (Manual exposure is preferred)
2) Bring your camera's installation CD( if shooting in Raw Mode)
3) Connections for transferring your images from your camera to the
computer
Prerequisite:
Basic Knowledge of Camera Operation and Basic
Computer Keyboard and Mouse Skills
